The Arts Alliance Jazz Band is sponsored by the West Wilson Community Arts Alliance. The band is made up of businessmen, teachers, doctors, and other professionals, as well as professional musicians. The group plays a variety of jazz-based music, from dance and swing music to contemporary jazz compositions. The goal of the group is to provide a performing outlet for outstanding players in the community as well as to promote Jazz and Jazz Performance in the Middle Tennessee Area.
The Jazz Band has performed at local schools and jazz concerts in the area and will be performing at Jazz On The Cumberland in Granville, TN, Oct. 14. The group is conducted by Glenn Martin. Glenn is the former Music Director for the Watertown Jazz Festival and has been active in promoting Jazz and Jazz Education in the Middle Tennessee Area. He is a jazz trombonist, clinician, and published composer, and teaches music at Cumberland University in Lebanon.
