
The Festival Youth Jazz Orchestra is a group of outstanding young musicians from Tennessee universities and high schools, including, Cumberland University, Tennessee Technological University, The University of Tennessee, Lebanon High School, Mt. Juliet High School, Smyrna High School, McGavock High School, La Vergne High School, and Hendersonville High School. The group will perform a variety of big band jazz selections under the direction of Glenn Martin.
Glenn has recently been a conductor at the1999 East Tennessee All-East
Jazz Clinic, and a clinician at the Cumberland University Jazz Festival. He has been a
jazz soloist, clinician, and adjudicator throughout the U.S. He is a commissioned
composer and arranger. His jazz compositions have been published by
Columbia Pictures/Belwin, Inc., The Tuba Press, Jazz Anyone Publications, and his own
company, LFM Publications.
Glenn is a private brass teacher and trombonist in the Nashville area and is Director of
the
Summer Jazz Camp held each summer at Cumberland University in
Lebanon, Tennessee. He teaches Music Theory, Sight Singing, Orchestration, Ear Training,
Applied Brass, and Instrumental Methods at Cumberland University. He also teaches at
the Cumberland Arts Academy. For the past three years Glenn has been the Music Director of
the Watertown Jazz Festival.
