Above The Sun (c) 1996 Glenn Martin. This piece was originally composed and published in 1982 for jazz ensemble with instrumentation for 5 saxes, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, piano, guitar, bass, and drum set. I tried to keep the original feel and spirit of the jazz ensemble version in this midi arrangement. The emotional feelings that I try to convey with this piece are pride, determination, purpose, and efficaciousness.

Valvin' On A Riff  (c) 2000 Glenn Martin.  This piece was written for Winston Morris and the Modern Jazz Tuba Project, for their World Premier Debut concerts at Tennessee Technological University and Cumberland University on November 4 and 5, 2000.   It is scored for three euphoniums, three tubas, piano, guitar, bass, and drums.   It is a medium-up tempo bop piece based on Half Nelson chord changes.   It features optional jazz solos in euphonium and tuba parts, as well as in rhythm parts. John's Joy (c) 1999 Glenn Martin.  This piece is written for Solo Trombone and Jazz Orchestra.  It starts with a pensive duet with two trombones against a bass pedal point and builds to a bright statement of the full theme in the solo trombone with trombone section and rhythm in a bossa style.  The melody is then stated in full ensemble.  The solo trombone then has jazz improvisation for two courses, the second course being a double-time samba feel that builds through background figures in the accompaniment to a full climax and recap of theme in full orchestra. The piece ends with the solo trombone finishing out the theme which extends to a short coda and solo cadenza.  This piece was commissioned by Steve Tinnel and the Cumberland County High School Jet Jazz in memory of the late John Brewer, a Cumberland Co. High School Band member.  It was recently performed by the 2000 Tennessee Mid-State Jazz Band and at the Austin Peay State University Jazz Festival..

Overture For Brass Quartet (c) 1997 Glenn MartinThis piece starts with an uplifting first theme in the trumpet and transitions to a slow, somber section beginning with a French horn solo.
